Since 2004, the Cotton O'Neil Clinical Research Center has served as the research program of Stormont Vail Health, an integrated health care delivery system in eastern Kansas. The Center is comprised of 29 talented and passionate clinical research professionals who partner with more than 50 organizational providers in our mission to provide access to clinical trials to our patients and to support the research industry in new approvals to prevent, treat and cure diseases. The staff is seasoned, hard-working and have a midwestern sensibility that creates a culture of dedication and gratitude for our industry and for the participants we support. The Clinical Research Center conducts trials for most all therapeutic areas and benefits from systematic processes to support patient-centered access to clinical research.

Our team is tenured; we have years of shared collaboration, growth and success. We've partnered with many/most major pharmaceutical research organizations and contract research organizations. We also have experience with small research and development companies and single-site protocols.

Research offices, exam rooms and equipment are present in many areas of our hospital and ambulatory environment. Research equipment includes EKG, centrifuge, scales, refrigerators, freezers, research laboratories, dedicated monitor rooms with internet, investigational product storage spaces and more. The Clinical Research Center integrates with the health systems and accesses a variety of equipment and expertise including but not limited to: endoscopy, imaging, cardiac testing, infusion center IP administration, pharmacy, laboratory, and other technologies and services.

The Cotton O'Neil Clinical Research Center partners with nearly 50 providers from throughout the health system and includes three research center part-time advance practice providers. Many of our invesigtors have been participing in clinical trials for more than ten years. They typically manage between 2-8 trials and demonstrate excellence in investigator oversight and involvement.

Many of the Clinical Research Center team members have been a part of the department for more than a decade. We have a very low turn-over, which creates a highly competent staff who enjoy a culture focused on excellence, performance and experience.

The health system provides more than 700,000 ambulatory patient visits per year, 65,000 emergency room visits, 22,000 in-patient admissions and supports an electronic health records with more than 400,000 unique patient lives from throughout eastern Kansas.

The Cotton O'Neil Clinical Research Center has established standard operating procedures and generates reliable, quality data. We have highly-developed electronic medical record-based "Clinical Trial Alerts" that match potential patients to our clinical trial panel -- resulting in high enrollment rates and ensuring systematic access to trials for our large patient population. Research participants are celebrated for their volunteerism through a variety of programs and events.
