Under the direction of, Board Certified, world renowned Dermatologists Mark Nestor, M.D., Ph.D., and Brian Berman, M.D., Ph.D., the Center for Clinical and Cosmetic Research™ is South Florida's premier Dermatology clinical trial site. With over 60 years of collective clinical research expertise, Drs. Nestor and Berman conduct a variety of FDA and IIS in all areas of Dermatology and Aesthetics.

Nestled in the heart of beautiful Aventura, our well established clinical research center is located in a state of the art 8,000 square foot facility with 15 exam rooms. Our extensive photography room, fully certified research staff with 2 physician research fellows, large storage space, temperature controlled fridge/freezer, centrifuge and CLIA certified lab enable us to perform complex and sophisticated clinical trials. Further, our extensive database of over 1,000,000 patients allows our site to quickly find suitable participants.

Mark Steven Nestor, M.D., Ph.D. - Site Director and Investigator

Mark S. Nestor, M.D., Ph.D., serves as Director of the Center for Clinical and Cosmetic Research™ and Director of the Center for Cosmetic Enhancement®, Aventura, Florida. He is a Voluntary Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery and the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Nestor is the President of the American Cutaneous Oncology Society, a past President of the American Society for Photodynamic Therapy, the International Society for Cosmetic and Laser Surgeons, and Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from The State University of New York, his Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology and Immunology from UCLA and his M.D. from UCLA School of Medicine. He completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at UCLA Medical Center and West Los Angeles V.A. Medical Center. He completed his Residency in Dermatology at New York University.

Dr. Nestor is recognized as a world expert in clinical research in all areas of clinical Dermatology and aesthetics. He conducts FDA and non-FDA clinical trials.. He has authored over 80 articles and book chapters and has delivered over 900 major presentations around the world and is viewed as an internationally acclaimed lecturer and instructor of clinical and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Nestor has also directed over 100 meetings and symposia on various topics in the field of cosmetic dermatology, laser surgery and practice management. He Chairs the Annual South Beach Symposium. Brian Berman, M.D., Ph.D. - Site Co-Director and Investigator

Brian Berman, M.D., Ph.D. is Emeritus Professor of Dermatology at The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and has the honor of serving as a member of the Board of Directors and Vice President-Elect of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has served as Professor of Dermatology and Internal Medicine at the University of Miami, Medical Director for Dermatology for inpatient and outpatients at Miami-Dade County’s Jackson Memorial Hospital, Professor of Dermatology and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at The University of California, Davis, California, Chief of the Dermatology Service at the VA Medical Center, Martinez, California, and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. He is past President and Founder of The National Association of Veterans Affairs Dermatologists, Chaired the Dermatology Field Advisory Group for The Department of Veterans Affairs, is a member of the Scientific Advisory / Boards of The European Journal of Dermatology, Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, and SKINmed, Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, edited The Miami Review series and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Sulzberger Institute for Dermatologic Education.

In addition to caring for patients at Skin and Cancer Associates, Dr. Berman also attends at the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He continues to direct a broad-based clinical research program while focusing laboratory investigations on the study of the control of scarring. He has presented at over 250 local, regional, state, national and international Dermatologic Societies and meetings. He is the author of more than 250 peer-reviewed scientific and clinical articles, chapters and books, is the recipient of the Dean’s Senior Faculty Clinical Research Award from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, was bestowed the “Scientist of the Year” Award from Sigma Xi the Science and Research Honor Society and is included among, “The Best Doctors in America”.

Julie Santos, PA-C. - Site Manager and Sub-Investigator

Julie Santos, PA-C, is a certified Physician’s Assistant with Skin and Cancer Associates and the Center for Cosmetic Enhancement® in Aventura, Florida. For the past 18 years, under the direction of Dr. Mark S. Nestor, she has performed a multitude of both clinical dermatologic and cosmetic enhancement procedures, which include I & D’s, biopsies, D & C’s, excision and repairs, laser surgeries, as well as oversees the clinical and research staff for the practice. Further, Mrs. Santos is Sub-Investigator for both Investigator Initiated and FDA Clinical Trials conducted by the Center for Clinical and Cosmetic Research™.

Mrs. Santos received her Bachelor of Science/Physician Assistant Degree from Nova Southeastern University, graduating with highest honors. Additionally, she has continued her training, receiving certifications in Clinical Research Training, and ICH-GCP Training from the National Institute of Health, as well as certification by the National Commission for Physician Assistants. She has served as Sub-Investigator or Clinical Research Coordinator for numerous clinical trials.
