OtriMed is an independent research site dedicated to conducting high quality clinical trials focused on pain management, achieved through ensuring patient safety and the execution of quality research by our experienced staff. Our integrity, well organized project management and detailed data collection, complemented by our dedication to recruitment and retention ensures expected timelines are met or exceeded. We are currently equipped to conduct Phase II-IV clinical trials.


OTRIMED is a dedicated, physician-owned clinical research center whose goal is to identify and conduct the highest quality, innovative and safe clinical research studies in collaboration with established pharmaceutical companies in the USA/World Wide to benefit the local community.

At Otrimed, we coordinate all phases of clinical and device related trials. We focus on identifying only eligible subjects to minimize screen failures. Otrimed is located within one mile of St. Elizabeth Hospital (480 beds) & its emergency department. It is 7 miles from the Northern Kentucky - Cincinnati (Ohio) International Airport. The clinical trial site is attached to the Advanced Pain Treatment Center, a full-time physician's office.

Medical Director

Dr. Gupta is an American Board Certified Anesthesiologist, holds Sub Specialty certification in Pain Medicine and is also an American Academy of Pain Medicine certified pain specialist. He is a Fellow of the prestigious Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh (1994) in General Surgery. He is a member of the Evidence Analysis team of Spine Intervention Society. Dr. Gupta is an American Academy of Clinical Research Professional Certified Physician Investigator. He completed Residency in Anesthesiology and Fellowship in Pain Medicine from Tufts Medical Center (Boston, MA) an internationally respected academic medical center. He has been successfully practicing Pain Management in the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati OH area since 2002. He has treated over 3500 patients and started the Otrimed Clinical Research in the year 2012 for participating in innovative clinical research in collaboration with reputed pharmaceutical corporations.

Dr. Gupta has served as Principal investigator for multiple industry sponsored clinical trials in the area of Chronic Low back pain (non specific), Degenerative disc disease causing low back pain, Osteoarthritis of major joints, Migraine headache, Sciatica, Spinal Cord stimulation, Opioid induced constipation, Post traumatic neuropathy pain, Drug dependence and addiction, and also Sub investigator for Treatment resistant depression, Major depression etc.

His clinical research interest is mainly in treating Low back pain secondary to Discogenic cause, Failed Back surgery, Post traumatic Neuropathy, Restorative Intradiscal therapies, Neck Pain (whiplash Injury), Spinal Cord Stimulation, Dorsal Root Ganglion Stimulation, and Sciatica.

Dr. Hurd is a graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, and is a board-certified internist and endocrinologist He has practiced most recently as a primary care physician at the Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center and with the Visiting Physicians Association in Clermont County, Ohio. Before this, he served as a Site Physician Co-Investigator for the ACCORD (Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes) Trial, located at Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Hospital and was a Research Associate at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Dr. Hurd also teaches bioethics and endocrinology at Xavier University of Cincinnati, in the departments of philosophy and biology, respectively.
