The Research Institute’s mission is to improve the health of children by providing patients and healthcare professionals access to the newest innovations for the diagnosis, treatment and cure of pediatric diseases, to promote research for the advancement of science and to generate new knowledge in child health and pediatric medicine.

The Nicklaus Children's Hospital Research Institute is a full-service clinical research facility dedicated to clinical trials Phases I to IV in all therapeutic areas. The center offers the convenience of professional services for study sponsors seeking to conduct clinical trials in a university-affiliated institution, fully accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc. (AAHRPP). Nicklaus Children's Hospital has become a world leader in medical education and is the largest free-standing pediatric teaching hospital in the Southeastern United States for the last 60 years. The 2011-2012 U.S.News & World Report ranked 10 of Nicklaus Children's Hospital subspecialties programs among the best in the nation. Nicklaus Children’s is the only hospital in Florida to have programs ranked in all 10 subspecialty categories.

The Research Institute provides comprehensive research support programs to assist pharmaceutical companies and investigators to conduct clinical studies. The Center assists sponsors and investigators to place, coordinate, and facilitate clinical trials in an inpatient/outpatient basis. Our purpose is to provide efficient, accurate and fiscally sound processes and procedures to conform to all Federal/State regulatory requirements.


The Center has more than 35 years of experience in clinical research with over 150 attending physicians and sub-specialists, and over 200 clinical trials. Our certified coordinators have decades of experience in clinical research to meet all study requirements. Our center offers a competitive edge based on our extensive experience in Phases I through IV for compounds and devices. Our credentials include experienced investigators, certified coordinators, research pharmacists experienced with investigational drugs, and GCP trained investigators and research staff, and solid background in drug and device regulations.

The Center has significant clinical volume for both inpatient and outpatient studies, provides a single point of contact for all site-related services, subject recruitment expertise and web-based recruitment tools. State-of-the-art information technologies for clinical study management, diverse ethnic population with a Hispanic concentration, and dedicated clinical research space are also available. As part of a medical institution, our research staff has access to the latest technology available within a hospital environment such as laboratory personnel, x-rays, MRIs, etc., to support any test requirement within the specific protocol.


Nicklaus Children's Hospital is located 16 minutes from the Miami International Airport. Nicklaus Children's Hospital is a full-service hospital with 289-beds serving the South Florida region, and it has six additional offsite ambulatory offices throughout the region. The Hospital serves children from every county in the state of Florida as well as from all over the world The Research Institute is located in a 43,000 square foot, three-story building in the Nicklaus Children's Hospital main campus and is the only facility in Florida dedicated exclusively to research. The Center has the latest technology for the safekeeping of investigational drugs providing efficient and accurate records.
