The Altoona Arthritis & Osteoporosis Center (AAOC), a private Rheumatology group medical practice, was established in 1987. In 1992, the practice expanded by opening the Altoona Center for Clinical Research (ACCR). Both the private medical practice and the research center are housed in a state-of-the-art 40,000 square foot facility located in central Pennsylvania. The facility has its’ own in-house state-certified laboratory, imaging suite (including MRI and DXA), infusion suite, and 5-bed extended stay area for conducting Phase 1 and PK studies.

ACCR is dedicated to providing quality clinical research and maintains the highest standards of patient safety. Our staff of 14 clinical research coordinators have completed over 1,000 studies for more than 100 different sponsors and CROs and has met or exceeded promised enrollment goals in the vast majority of these trials. ACCR provides outstanding service and care to study volunteers including limited transportation services for qualifying individuals. The research center is a 20-year member of OsNET (
