PRI’s foundation is based in Public Health Nursing; focusing on the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of the populations. Along with our "Patients First Motto" we provide excellence in healthcare and conduction of our research trials.

Peninsula Research is an independent clinical research site with 8 exam rooms and ability to host up to 4 patients concurrently for 24-hour visits.

We are located within 10 miles of Daytona Beach International Airport and within driving distance of 3 other international airports in Orlando, Orlando-Sanford and Jacksonville, Florida.

Our beautiful 2500 sq. foot facility is within 2 miles of Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, and within 3 miles of an imaging/radiology center.

Peninsula Research staff has experience in electronic data entry, working with Central IRBs and uses both an internet-based clinical trial management database and a state-of-the-art eRegulatory system. All computerized systems meet 21 CFR Part 11 and current FDA guidance.

Our laboratory is equipped with a centrifuge and a -20 degree freezer. Drug storage includes a locked 2 to 8 degree refrigerator and a triple-locked, climate-controlled, drug storage room with a security camera and motion detector.

Our site is well-equipped and well-maintained with oxygen, 12-lead EKG machine, stadiometer, digital kg/lb scale, electronic BP cuffs, 12-lead EKG machine, Spirolab III spirometer, broadband internet with Wi-Fi, and lots of coffee!


Diego T. Torres, II, M.D. is board certified in Family Practice. Dr. Torres is a native Floridian and the son of Cuban immigrants who fled communism in the late 1950’s. He earned his medical degree from the Howard University College of Medicine and completed a Family Medicine residency at the Tallahassee Memorial Family Practice Residency Program.

Mark B. Barettella, M.D., F.A.C.C. is Board Certified in Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine, and Interventional Cardiology. He graduated from the Rutgers Medical School/ University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ. He currently serves as the Subsection Chief of Cardiology as well as the Medical Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation Services at Halifax Health Medical Center. He is a member of the faculty at Florida State School of Medicine at Daytona State College.

Arnold Vera, M.D., M.Sc., C.D.E., F.A.C.E. is Board Certified in Diabetes, Metabolism, and Endocrinology. He received his M.D. degree at the Facultad de Medicina Universidad De Carabobo in Valencia, Venezuela. He has published articles in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, among others, and has presented papers on diagnostics and treatment of diabetes, thyroid disease, reproductive issues, as well as new approaches to wellness in patients.

Alyn L. Benezette, D.O. is a board certified licensed Neurologist, Pain Management and Balance Disorder physician. He received his Doctorate of Osteopathy from Michigan State University. Dr. Benezette served in the US Navy Medical Corps.

Sanjay Sastry, M.D. is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. He completed his fellowship in addiction medicine through the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida. Dr. Sastry’s extensive training has furnished him with expertise in both medical and interventional pain management. Dr. Sastry is multi-lingual – speaking English, German, Spanish, French and Kannada.

Q. Jocelyn Ge M.D., Ph.D. received her Ph.D. in Neurophysiology at the University of California, Los Angeles and her medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She has received the American Medical Association’s Physician Recognition Award with Commendation and Lifelong Education for Ophthalmologist (LEO) award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Angel I. Ribó PA-C, MPAS, AAHIVS – is a Certified Physician Assistant and is a Certified HIV/Aids Specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. He has over 15 years’ experience as an HIV Specialist, clinical researcher, primary care provider, educator and public speaker.

Jonathan Falcone, PA-C has been a Physician Assistant since 1999 and he currently works as a hospitalist at two local hospitals. Mr. Falcone has a cumulative experience over 9 years in over 40 studies in multi-therapeutic Phase II-IV clinical trials.
