Sun Valley Research Center is focused on the comprehensive,successful management and completion of Phase II-IV clinical trialscombined with our private practice. Our private practice hastreated patients with schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, angersymptoms, panic and other anxiety disorders, as well as difficultywith sleep and chronic pain. We also assist the obese and thosewith eating disorders, plus individuals with paranoid, psychotic orschizophrenic disorders. Memory failing, Alzheimer’s and otherforms of dementia are also treated

We promote the advancement of wellness through research and arededicated to advancing the development of new investigationaltreatments (drugs, devices). Our private practice hasimplemented programs to quit smoking, control body weight andeducate the community about mental illness.

Our research team is designed to streamline efforts to assuremaximum efficiency while maintaining the highest ethical standards,ensuring research subject safety. Our site consists of 2 BoardCertified Psychologists and research staff to oversee all clinicaltrials with several years of experience. In conjunction with theUniversity of California San Diego, the international mooddisorders center and other academic institutions, various researchprotocols are being instituted to include studies in Latino MentalHealth, Victims of Trauma, Aging, and clinical drug trials allowingthe possibility of offering high quality treatments at no cost.

Sponsors are assured of timely study initiation and patientenrollments as well as accurate study protocol conduct.

Our primary source of research subjects are the patients seen inour behavioral health medical center, by private practicepractitioners, multi-specialty group practices, and communityhospitals. Our private practice is currently the largest privatesystem of behavioral and psychiatric care in the Imperial County,California.

Community support is outstanding and our internal patientdatabase is extensive coming from our sub-specialty physicians.

Our mission is to perform high quality clinical researchinvolving new therapeutics in order to advance the care of patientswith a variety of diseases in a rural area where access of care islimited to some of our residents. We have formed partnerships withexperienced private practice physicians and with well known expertsin the field who have the most qualified patient database and astrong desire to become involved in clinical research.

Outpatient studies can be conducted either at our site or at thedesignated physician's office. We have the capability toperform inpatient studies as a result of our association withPioneers Memorial Hospital and El Centro Regional Medical Center.We can use either a central Institutional Review Board (IRB) orlocal IRB for studies conducted at inpatient facilities.

We have designated areas which include ample storage for filesand study drug, freezer, refrigerator, centrifuge and exam rooms.Our high quality and safety standards extend to strict qualitycontrol of all environmental factors and equipment.



Bernardo Ng, M.D.
Dr. Ng is the Medical Director of Sun Valley Behavioral Centerlocated in Imperial, CA and ALEGRIA Adult Health Care Centerlocated in Calexico, CA, which are both privately operated. Dr. Ngis one of the founders of Sun Valley Research Center in conjunctionwith Sun Valley Behavioral Center. He is also the Medical Directorof the Imperial Valley Drug & Rehabilitation Clinic in ElCentro, CA. Dr. Ng has been certified by the American Board ofPsychiatry and Neurology since 1995 and has a sub-specialty inPsychosomatic Medicine. Dr. Ng has been an Assistant ClinicalProfessor for the Department of Psychiatry at UCSD since 1995 and aconsultant in the district branch relations for the AmericanPsychiatric Association since 2006. He has participated in severalclinical trials and investigator initiated trials since 1994 andhas participated in several speaking engagements for Eisai, Forest,Glaxo Smth Klein, Jansen, Lilly, Pfizer and Wyeth. Dr. Ng hasseveral years of research experience which includes clinical trialsand investigator initiated trials.


Our staff pays close attention to adhering to the sponsor'sstudy protocol, current FDA, GCP and ICH guidelines, and thecompany's standard operating procedures. Such attention todetail maximizes patient safety while also maintaining the accuracyand integrity of the clinical data.


Our offices draw from a very diverse pool of potential patients.Imperial County has over 140,000 people. Seventy percent (70%) ofthe population of the Imperial county is of Latino background,predominately Mexican-Americans, the remaining thirty percentconsists of Caucasian, Asian American and African Americans. Thisis a unique population for a variety of studies, looking atdifferent outcomes in Rural Hispanics living in a Border County inSouthern California


We provide our sponsors and central research organizations witha pleasant physical environment for their monitoring activities.Our employee's hours are flexible to enable staff to workdirectly with the monitors as needed.
