Spending on clinical trials for medical devices is increasing, not only for devices that require testing for the FDA, but also for devices that are substantially equivalent to devices already on the market. This data is used for the company's safety and efficacy assurance.

Results of a CenterWatch survey of 210 patients indicate that the vast majority of patients have had positive experiences participating in clinical trials. These results are in sharp contrast with recent reports in the media.
A high percentage of patients find that investigative site staff are professional, knowledgeable and provide a high level of care.
