Safe Harbor Clinical Research is a multi-therapeutic dedicated clinical research site located in East Providence, RI conducting Phase II, III and IV clinical trials since 1997. We have a working relationship with the largest group practice in Rhode Island giving us access to physicians and patients throughout the state in many therapeutic areas. This gives us the opportunity to rapidly enroll patients and provide ongoing support and expertise.
As an experienced research organization we assist the pharmaceutical industry in developing new, safe and effective therapies to treat a variety of medical conditions. Our physicians, registered nurses and certified research staff are always available to assist our patients throughout the clinical trial period. Patient safety/satisfaction and quality data are of primary importance as we work to help advance medical knowledge, improve quality of life and provide the opportunity to access new drugs and medical treatments that may otherwise not be available.
Safe Harbor Clinical Research is an independent research organization with a network of physicians and a highly trained clinical staff. With over 23 years of experience, we have conducted more than 200 Phase II-IV studies across a multitude of therapeutic areas. Our network of physicians, clinical experts, and research staff are highly trained, licensed and/or certified in their respective disciplines.
Safe Harbor Clinical Research has successfully completed trials in the following areas: Pulmonary Medicine, including COPD, asthma, allergy, sinusitis, bronchitis, the common cold and community-acquired pneumonia; Gastroenterolgy, including IBSd, IBSc, GERD, Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease; Internal Medicine including high cholesterol, hypertension and diabetes; Gynecology including HRT and osteopenia/osteoporosis; Metabolic Diseases including gout and weight loss; Neurology including migraines and Lyme Disease; Urology including BPH and Overactive Bladder; and Degenerative Joint Diseases including osteoarthritis of the knee. Safe Harbor Clinical Research is a handicap accessible facility located in a large 15 building medical complex on Veterans Memorial Parkway in East Providence, RI. It is easily accessible from Interstate 195 and is 5 miles from Rhode Island Hospital which is part of the Lifespan Hospital Health System. Our patients receive individualized care from a highly trained team of clinicians. Participants interact with the same qualified staff throughout their study, and receive the highest possible personalized care available. Physicians and nurses are always available on-site to assist patients throughout the trial period.

Investigator & staff experience:
We have access to a network of Investigators throughout several therapeutic areas each having research experience ranging from 1 to 23 years. All Investigators and study coordinators are trained and/or certified in GCP/ICH compliance and Human Subject Protection. Staff capabilities include: CRC role and responsibilities, IATA (shipping and handling of dangerous goods) certification, CPR certification, ECG, Blood Pressure Monitoring, Holter and Ambulatory Monitoring, Spirometry, Inhalation Therapy, IV Infusion, PK Sampling, Phlebotomy, Continuous Glucose Monitoring, Dietary Counseling, and Patient Education.
Patient recruitment is facilitated through our proprietary research patient database, investigator(s)’ private practice, non-investigator physician referrals, liaisons with community services, and through social media, radio, newspaper and television advertising when appropriate. We also have a dedicated patient recruiter who screens and pre-qualifies all patients prior to trial consideration. Our patient population is ethnically diverse and we draw patients from the Rhode Island, and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut areas.
