Care Access Research, Downtown Pasadena is an independent research center specializing in Phase II - IV clinical trials. Conveniently located in the Los Angeles area, we are able to reach surrounding communities of Pasadena with a population of approximately 1.5 million people. Specializing in adult neurology, our center allows us to continue in our mission to make clinical trials an accessible care option for all patients.
Our dedicated research staff has over 50 combined years in research experience with trial experience in Alzheimer's Disease/Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, Migraines, Tremors, Parkinson's Disease, Sleep Disorders, and Epilepsy.
We offer convenient outpatient facilities with on-site blood draw, EMG & Nerve Conduction testing, Autonomic testing, EEG equipment, Ultrasound, Lumbar puncture, and IV infusion capabilities. Our waiting area is comfortable providing a TV, study appropriate reading materials, snacks, and beverages for our patients and visitors.
Our dedicated research space includes multiple exam rooms and a locked, temperature monitored ambient, refrigerated, and frozen IP storage area. The facility maintains a locked study document storage area as well as a comfortable monitoring area with access to telephone, copier, fax, and high-speed internet connection.
Dedicated research equipment includes a centrifuge, -20°F locked freezer, locked refrigerator, locked drug storage cabinet, ECG machine, back-up power with power outage alarm, blood pressure and vitals unit, and crash cart.
In addition to our research team, our site maintains relationships with research experienced dermatologists, ophthalmologists, radiologists, pulmonologists, and PET and MRI facilities.
Sharon Yegiaian MD, Principal Investigator: Dr. Yegiaian is a board-certified Neurologist and neuromuscular expert, and experienced Principal and Sub-Investigator. With over 20 years of clinical experience in treating multiple neurologic disorders, Dr. Yegiaian is an expert in Neuropathies, Stroke, Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, and Epilepsy.
Kacy Heggan, PsyD, Sub-Investigator: Dr. Heggan is a highly experienced clinical trials rater certified to perform a multitude of cognition scales and assessments. She has over five years of experience in clinical research and has participated in over 50 clinical trials.
Nina Bliss, BS, CCRP, Clinical Research Coordinator: With over 7 years of experience in clinical research, Nina has participated in over 30 clinical trials. Nina is a certified phlebotomist and is trained in performing cognition scales and assessments as well as lab-processing and ECG’s.
Shari Lim, BS (Psychology), Clinical Research Coordinator: Shari is a highly-experienced research coordinator with over five years of experience in clinical research. Her experience is vast, participating in over 50 clinical trials, and she is certified to perform a high number of cognition scales and assessments. Shari is a certified phlebotomist that is capable of performing on-site lab processing, ECG's, and scale administration.
Marjorie Rivera, BBA, LVN, Clinical Research Coordinator: Marjorie is a senior research coordinator at the site with over 10 years of experience in clinical research, participating in over 60 clinical trials. Marjorie is consistently recognized as a top-enrolling CRC in the trials that she participates in. In addition to her role as a Clinical Research Coordinator she has experience being a Psychometric Rater, Clinical Research Associate, and Clinical Research Manager. She is certified in Intravenous therapy, IATA, and BLS.
In addition to our experienced research coordinators we have an IV infusion specialist, multiple medical assistants, and support staff available.
Our PI’s are highly respected and well-known physicians in the community. Our site has relationships with local businesses, nursing homes, hospitals, and primary care physicians, helping us to maintain a large recruitment potential.
We have dedicated support staff for budget and contract negotiations, regulatory submissions to central IRB’s, patient recruitment, equipment management, and IT support. We benefit from the additional capabilities provided by the Care Access Research national network of sites.
