Who we are:
Atrius Health is the Northeast’s largest nonprofit, independent, multi-specialty medical group. With 32 clinical locations, more than 50 specialties and 825 physicians, we provide customized care to more than 720,000 adult and pediatric patients across eastern Massachusetts. Atrius Health has built a sophisticated data warehouse that combines the electronic medical records, claims data, and pharmacy data for hundreds of thousands of patients. This data warehouse has become a tremendous data source for leading edge research, practice improvement, and enhanced patient care.
Atrius Health maintains rigorous safeguards to protect confidentiality and privacy while maintaining research capability. Atrius Health actively supports teaching at Harvard Medical School and Tufts University School of Medicine. The organization also engages in collaborative research, targeted at improving the delivery of care, working with investigators from Harvard Medical School and its affiliated teaching hospitals on projects funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the National Institutes of Health, and private foundations. Atrius Health and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) also share a primary care residency program.
With over 20 years of research experience, the Atrius Health groups have conducted studies in many indications. Our research portfolio includes industry sponsored Phase II-IV clinical trials, collaborations with academia and corporations, investigator-initiated research, federally funded initiatives, Quality Improvement projects and large scale data analytic research
Practice/Patient Care Locations
Atrius Health has 32 multi-specialty patient care locations in communities across Eastern Massachusetts.
The facilities within the Center for Clinical Research at Atrius Health are located in downtown Boston and include office space for study monitors, desktop computers with network and internet access, telephones, printers, fax machines, photocopiers and private conference rooms. Computer and network support are available 24 hours per day. Accessible public transportation as well as on-site parking is available.

Atrius Health works with each sponsor to assemble the right team of principal investigator, sub-investigators, coordinators and support staff to meet the specific needs of the trial.
Our research population includes rural, urban and suburban patients ranging from infants to the elderly. Atrius Health clinicians recognize the success of every clinical trial hinges on the success of the recruiting strategies for identifying qualified and compliant patients. We have organized thousands of our patients into a computerized database allowing rapid retrieval of patients based on their diagnosis.
