Our dedicated research center fully equipped to conduct clinical trials includes a double-locked, limited-access drug storage room and a CLIA-waived processing laboratory with a -20 degree refrigerator. We perform onsite ECGs and maintain relationships with local facilities that perform PET, MRI, CSF sampling, PSG and other special procedures that may be needed in clinical trials. Both inpatient and outpatient capabilities.
Jelena Kunovac is a founder and chief executive and chief medical officer of Altea Research in Las Vegas, Nev. She is also a cofounder, president and CEO of Excell Research and Southern California Women’s Psychiatry, private facilities dedicated to clinical care and psychopharmacology research in Oceanside, Calif. She brings to Altea Research and Excell Research more than 20 years of clinical trial experience. Dr. Kunovac has participated in more than 300 clinical trials in the CNS area, mostly as a principal investigator. She conducts phase 2 to 4 studies, focusing on schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety disorders.
Mustafa Rawaf is an associate medical director for Altea Research. He has been a sub-investigator for conducting clinical trials at Altea Research since 2013. Fluent in Spanish and Arabic, Dr. Rawaf is passionate about working in underserved communities and indigent populations. His areas of special interest include bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, and consult-liaison psychiatry.
In addition to two hands-on, board-certified psychiatrists, we maintain a full-time staff of research professionals with extensive experience in clinical trials, including cognitive testing staff, dedicated regulatory and quality assurance staff, and medical assistants.
