Overview
The Eye Care Institute began in 1984 with a commitment to serving Louisville area residents in need of quality eye care. Our practice expanded to several offices offering cutting edge procedures that kept pace with advances in the field of ophthalmology.
Twenty years ago, we expanded our practice to include an embedded clinical trials research site, which we now call Butchertown Clinical Trials. This has led to 15 FDA approvals.
Our clinical trials successes include EYSUVIS™, Durysta™, iStent®, Xiidra®, Hydrus®, True Tear®, Rhopressa®, Inveltys®, Lumigan®, Lotemax®, Vexol®, Visudyne®, Dextenza®, Tyrvaya™, and Vuity™.
Research Experience
We utilize RealTime–CTMS which gives us the ability to keep track of trial participants, study visits, and pay stipends. We also use MDI Intellichart™ and Nextech™ scheduling software to easily search for potential participants by condition, disease, and inclusion/exclusion criteria.
Some of The Eye Care Institute’s clinical trial areas include glaucoma, cataracts, corneal wounds, dry-eye syndrome, macular degeneration, and conjunctivitis. We have also expanded our study areas to nutritional studies, diabetes education, clinical surveys, and more
Our data is valid, auditable, and accurate. Our site has never been issued with any FDA findings.
With our patient databases, MDI Intellichart™, Nextech™ scheduling software, and RealTime clinical trial management software, we can search 78,000 active patient charts to easily search for potential subjects by condition, disease, and inclusion / exclusion criteria.
In the past two years alone, we have participated in 37 clinical and surgical trials including both drug and device trials. Our sponsor and CRO list include Allergan, Alcon Research, Bausch and Lomb, Novartis, Tarsus, ORA, Oyster Point, Senju, Kala, Shire, the National Eye Institute, Merck & Co., and Pfizer, just to name a few.
