General Information

Noritate (metronidazole cream, 1%) is a nitroimidazole.

Noritate is specifically indicated for the topical treatment of inflammatory lesions and erythema of rosacea.

Noritate is supplied as a topical cream. Areas to be treated should be cleansed before application of Noritate. Apply and rub in a thin film of Noritate once daily to entire affected area(s). Patients may use cosmetics after application of Noritate.

Mechanism of Action

Noritate (metronidazole cream, 1%) is a nitroimidazole. The mechanisms by which metronidazole acts in reducing inflammatory lesions of rosacea are unknown.

Side Effects

Adverse effects associated with the use of Noritate may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• application site reactions
• condition aggravated
• paresthesia
• acne
• dry skin

Clinical Trial Results

Noritate has been shown to significantly reduce inflammatory lesions of rosacea in as little as four weeks with minimal skin dryness and irritation.
