A Study of Evolocumab on Carotid Artery Atherosclerotic Plaque Morphology Prior to Carotid EndArterectomy

This is a multicenter, randomized, open label study with blinded outcome assessment to evaluate the impact of additional/intensive LDL-cholesterol reduction with evolocumab on carotid artery atherosclerotic plaques in higher risk subjects with severe asymptomatic but vulnerable plaques undergoing carotid endarterectomy.

Effect of Surgical Revascularization on Hemorrhagic Moyamoya Disease

Moyamoya Disease(MMD), also known as spontaneous basilar artery occlusion, is characterized by the gradual thickening of arterial intima at the distal carotid artery and the proximal portion of anterior/middle cerebral artery, the gradual stenosis or occlusion of arterial lumen, and the compensatory expansion of basilar cerebral perforating arteries. Cerebral infarction …

Endovascular Acute Stroke Intervention - Tandem OCclusion Trial

Patients with tandem occlusion or tandem lesion (TL), that is, stroke with an acute intracranial anterior circulation occlusion and an ipsilateral cervical ICA (c-ICA) high-grade stenosis or occlusion, constitute about 25% of patients undergoing endovascular thrombectomy (EVT). However, the optimal treatment of acute stroke patients with TL remains uncertain, as …

Distal Versus Proximal Protection on Cerebral Microembolization During High-risk Carotid Artery Stenting

A multicenter, prospective, outcome-assessor-blinded, randomized controlled trial study (MOSCASH) is designed to compare the efficiency of distal and proximal embolism protection devices during carotid angioplasty and stenting (CAS) procedure of patients with high-intensity signal in the plaque on the time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography(TOF-MRA) .

Assessing Neurocognition After Cerebrovascular Intervention

Decreased blood flow to the brain can cause decreased cognitive function. Carotid disease can result in decreased blood flow to the brain. The investigators seek to assess this relationship prospectively through performing a battery of neurocognitive assessments, collection of serum markers of inflammation, and through neuroimaging at two points before …

Thrombectomy In TANdem Occlusion

Tandem occlusion is defined by an acute ischemic stroke (AIS) with concomitant steno-occlusive disease of the extra cranial carotid artery and concerned about 10% of AIS patients. Whereas endovascular treatment has shown its efficiency in AIS by large vessel occlusion (LVO), to date, there is no consensus on the endovascular …

The Role of Large Artery Plaque Imaging Features in Predicting Inflammation and Cognition

The invesigators propose a clinical study on patients undergoing carotid surgery (endarterectomy). The invesigators will determine carotid artery imaging features associated with (1) vessel wall inflammation, (2) downstream brain inflammation, and (3) cognitive benefit from surgery. This project will uncover links between inflamed carotid plaque and downstream brain inflammation. The …

Study of 68GaNOTA-Anti-MMR-VHH2 in Oncological Lesions and Cardiovascular Atherosclerosis.

Phase II study to evaluate the clinical potential of 68GaNOTA-anti-MMR-VHH2 for in vivo imaging of Macrophage Mannose Receptor (MMR)-expressing Macrophages by means of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) in patients with oncological lesions in need of non-surgical therapy and patients with cardiovascular atherosclerosis.
