Hydrolyzed Collagen Formulation Versus Placebo in the Treatment of Degenerative Knee Cartilage Injuries

The aim of the study is to compare the 6 months clinical outcome of the treatment with a single intra-articular collagen injection versus a single placebo (saline solution) infiltration in the infiltrative treatment of knee osteoarthritis. SHARC is an observational study of cartilage patients who are treated with surgery that involves obtaining a harvest biopsy. SHARC will study the natural healing process of the harvest biopsy site based on histological and biochemical analyses of repair tissue biopsies, synovial fluid biomarkers, medical imaging (MRI) and gait analysis.
