Myopic macular degeneration is a type of macular degeneration that occurs in people with high myopia (nearsightedness). It is characterized by the thinning and stretching of the macula, the central part of the retina, which can lead to vision loss. There is currently no cure for myopic macular degeneration, but early detection and treatment can slow its progression.
