Brief description of study

Previous heart attack or stroke? Cardiovascular disease? Diabetes? Elevated blood sugar levels?

Detailed Study Description

People with these conditions have a higher risk of heart attack or stroke in the future. Because we know who is at a greater risk, we want to take early steps to try to prevent a cardiovascular emergency.

The Aleprevent clinical research study will look at whether an investigational medication can reduce cardiovascular risk in people who:

  • Are at least 40 years of age
  • Have cardiovascular disease (e.g., a previous heart attack or stroke or peripheral artery disease)
  • Have type 2 diabetes or elevated blood sugar levels

Study-related medications and care will be provided at no cost to you. You will also be reimbursed for your time and travel.
