Summary

People with dementia can have difficulty communicating their feelings or letting someone know that something is wrong. Our research aims to find the best ways to help people with dementia to provide feedback and have conversations about their care. We would like to hear about your experiences of having conversations about care.

Description

People with dementia can have difficulty communicating their feelings or letting someone know that something is wrong. Our research aims to find the best ways to help people with dementia to provide feedback and have conversations about their care. We will co-design free resources to help people with dementia engage in important conversations. We would like to hear about your experiences of having conversations about care. Complete an interview about your experiences (1hour) You may be invited to attend a focus group (up to 2 hours). You may also be invited to participate in co-design workshops (2 hours each). We would also love to hear from you if you had a loved one with dementia in the past, or have worked with a person with dementia in the past. There is also the option for families to do interviews together, or the family member to be present at the interview of their loved one with dementia. Participants will receive a $20 gift voucher per session as reimbursement for time. Eligibility criteria • People with dementia receiving community support or are in residential aged care/nursing homes • Family members and informal carers of a person with dementia in residential aged care/nursing homes • Formal carers, health professionals and care managers (nursing, medical, allied health, personal carer) working in residential aged care/nursing homes
