We are conducting a study to learn more about health factors that may increase or decrease risk for suicide for people 60 years and older with Subjective Cognitive Decline (experiencing recent changes in memory or other thinking processes but do not have a diagnosed neurocognitive disorder). Eligible participants will meet with a member of the research team remotely using Zoom video to answer questions about their physical, mental, and social health and well-being, including questions about any recent or past suicidal thoughts or behavior. They will also complete some tasks to assess thinking and memory. Some participants may also complete brief, daily assessments of their mood and any suicidal thoughts on a mobile phone.

Participants complete an interview and assessments over Zoom video and online. These take about 2 to 3 hours to complete. The interview and online survey include questions about daily activities, health, memory and thinking, alcohol and drug use, depression, anxiety, stress, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Participants also complete tasks to measure memory and other thinking abilities. Some participants will also complete daily assessments on a smartphone for 14 days. Completing the questions should take no more than a total of 20 minutes each day. At the end of the 14 days, participants are invited for a follow-up visit with our research team. The follow-up visit is conducted over Zoom video and lasts about an hour. During the follow-up visit, participants answer questions about mood, stress, and any recent suicidal thoughts. They also have the chance to provide feedback about the daily surveys.
