Summary

This study, Caregiver-Provided Life Review (C-PLR) is created based on Life Review therapy. It is for Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) persons living with early-stage dementia along with mild depressive symptoms who are 65 years or older, community-dwellers or the residents of senior housing, independent or assisted living facilities conducted by their family members (18 years or older) who are their daughters, sons, spouses, or close friends. We will train family members Life Review therapy skills to deliver the life review sessions.

Description

This is a PAID study (by e-Gift card)
(1)    Persons with early-stage dementia (PWD) and their family members will take assessment tests (5-10 min each person) ($20 each) by phone/zoom;

(2)    one-time 1-hour online caregiver training ($50);

(3)    PWDs and family members will conduct a weekly life review session (30-45 min each) for six weeks at home;

(4)    After the 6th session, they will take the same assessment tests ($20 each) and family member will have a feedback interview ($20) by phone/zoom;

(5)    Family members will have fidelity check-in calls (15-20 minutes) with the research team member after each life review session.
