are currently seeking volunteers who are diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and
who are treating with any combination of medications including any of the
- Sulfonylureas (Glyburide, Glipizide, or
- Glinides (Prandin or Starlix.)
- DPP-4 inhibitors (Januvia,
Onglyza, Tradjenta, or Nesina.)
- SLGT-2 inhibitors (Farxiga, Invokana, or
- TZDs (Avandia, Actos, or Rezulin.)
inhibitors (Precose, Glyset, or Voglibose.)
- Oral or injectable GLP-1 RAs
(Byetta, Bydureon, Victoza, Trulicity, Tanzeum, Ozempic, or Rybelsus-[oral].)
This is a study of an investigational once weekly basal insulin, that may
help improve blood sugar level control. Participants will be assigned to one
of two groups: half of all participants will take the investigational insulin
once a week and a once daily placebo, the other half will take a placebo once
a week and Tresiba daily.
Participants taking Sulfonylureas (Glyburide,
Glipizide, Glimepiride) and Glinides (Prandin or Starlix) will stop taking
them. Participants will continue taking their other diabetes medications.
Participants must be willing to check their blood sugars at least once a day.
Also, they must be willing to wear a blinded Dexcom G6 continuous glucose
monitor on their arms on 4 separate occasions during the study.
