Summary

The purpose of the research study is to better understand childhood stress and resilience, and to look at how early life stress in the form of family separation or divorce affects a child’s development. Participants will visit the study site for 3 visits over the course of 18 months. Up to $570 is provided for time and effort.

Inclusion Criteria

Participants will be children between the ages of 4-6 and their parent
Participants will be within 6 months of parental divorce, defined as a recent rupture in the relationship including legal divorce, breakup, or separation
Participants within the control group will be from families that have not experienced divorce, breakups, or separation during their lifetime
Both parent and child must speak and comprehend English at a conversational level
