This is a study of an investigational once weekly basal insulin, that may help improve blood sugar level control.
Participants will be assigned to one of two groups: half of all participants will take the investigational insulin once a week, the other half will take Lantus insulin once daily. If currently taking them, participants will stop taking any Sulfonylureas (Glyburide, Glipizide, Glimepiride) and Glinides (Prandin or Starlix).
Participants will continue taking their other diabetes medications. Participants must be willing to check their blood sugars at least once a day. Also, they must be willing to wear a blinded Dexcom G6 continuous glucose monitor on their arms on 4 separate occasions during the study.
