Summary

This study is interested in the early signs of the development of Alzheimer’s. This study asks: How does memory loss develop? What are the early signs of Alzheimer’s? This study is looking for adults who are willing to participate in all study activities.

Description

Participants will undergo a comprehensive evaluation consisting of a medical, neurological and psychiatric exam as well as complete cognitive paper and pencil testing. Participants must be accompanied to the evaluation by a “study partner“ who is a family member or close friend who can answer questions about them. Participation involves annual follow-up where this comprehensive evaluation will be repeated.

Inclusion Criteria

You could be eligible for this study if: - You are 21 or older. - You speak English fluently. - You have a ‘study partner’—a spouse or friend who has regular contact with you—who would be willing to come along with you on study visits and to answer questions about you. You may not be eligible for this study if: - You have a serious medical or psychiatric condition, including kidney failure, liver disease, lung disease, some cancers, schizophrenia, manic-depressive disorder, schizoaffective disorder, or dependence on drugs or alcohol. - You have a significant impairment of your eyesight or hearing, even with glasses or hearing aids. - You have recently had electroconvulsive therapy
