Modifiers of PrEP Efficacy: Impact of the Vaginal Microbiome and Age

Brief description of study

The goal of this study is to compare changes in the female genital tract in women diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis (BV) before and after treatment and to compare differences in the female genital tract in adolescent and adult women. Women with BV have an increased risk of acquiring HIV and there is a high rate of HIV in young women. The ultimate goal of this research is to better understand the effects of BV and age on the female genital tract, so that methods can be developed to reduce transmission of HIV.
