A Washington University metabolism study seeks participants.

 

Detailed Study Description

The purpose of this research study is to see why some people who are obese have high blood sugar levels and are at risk of developing diabetes.  There are 3 to 4 study visits. Two visits will be overnight stay visits that will last 27 hours. There will be a medical screening, metabolic testing, MRI, DXA, and PET scans, and muscle and fat biopsies. Up to $700 is provided for time and effort). Risks and benefits will be discussed as part of the informed consent process (IRB #201610005).
