Biofilm Epidemiology and Mechanisms in Colon Cancer


Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Cancer Prevention | Colon Cancer
  • Age: 21 Years
  • Gender: Male or Female

The colonoscopy will be standard of care.

If you agree to be in this study, we will require you to do the following things:

  • If you are a female capable of having children, the study doctor will ask you some questions to see if you are pregnant.
  • Complete a questionnaire about your socio demographic data, your own and your family’s health background and about your eating habits. This information will be kept private and will not be shared without your consent.
  • Allow us to collect small samples from the lining of your colon at the time of your colonoscopy. As part of your standard clinical care, you need an exam of the inside of your colon with a flexible tool (colonoscope). The reasons for the exam and the risks of the test will be explained by your doctor. We will take an additional 1-12 tissue samples for research purposes. Taking the research biopsies will prolong the procedure by 3-5 minutes.
