Description

Winthrop University Hospital Clinical Trials Center is conducting a clinical research study for participants (ages 10-17 years old), who have been diagnosed and have a history of type 2 diabetes.
The purpose of this research study is to assess the safety and efficacy of a investigational non-insulin, injectable anti-diabetic medication for type 2 diabetic adolescent.
Eligible participants will receive study-related medical examinations, research medication and laboratory tests at no cost, while they are participating in this research study. Compensation may be provided for time and travel.

Patient Inclusion Criteria:
To be eligible for the study, your child must;

  • Be 10 -17 years old
  • Be diagnosed and has a history of type 2 diabetes
  • Be naïve to anti-diabetic agents and being treated with diet and exercise alone or are being treated with metformin, a sulfonylurea, or both, for 3 months
  • Have used insulin for less than 10 weeks during the 3 months prior to screening
  • Be able to understand and comply with a lifestyle modification program
