Brief description of study

Young adults, 18 - 24 years of age, are needed for a research study.

Detailed Study Description

This study will look at the differences in brain structure, function and biological markers of risky decision-making in adolescents compared to adolescents with non-risky behavior. This study includes 1 - 3 outpatient study visits over about 8 days. Study procedures include oral HIV test, MRI, paper and pencil tests of attention and memory, computerized tests regarding risk-taking behaviors, and medical exam. There are no direct benefits to the participants. Risks will be discussed as part of the informed consent process. Up to $75 is provided for time and effort.

Patient Inclusion Criteria:

  • 18 - 24 years of age
  • HIV+ or HIV-

Patient Exclusion Criteria:

  • Metal implants (ie: pacemaker, permanent metal piercings)
  • Claustrophobia
  • Serious head injury
