A research study at Washington University seeks participants with anosmia or hyposmia.

Brief description of study

The purpose of the study is to examine the impact of nasal irrigation (Neti-pot) and/or smell training for patients with hyposmia (reduced ability to smell) or anosmia (no ability to smell). Phase 1 of the research study is 32 days with 2 study visits that will last 2 hours each. Phase 2 will last 12 weeks and includes 1 study visit that will last about 2 hours. There will be taste and smell tests, budesonide nasal saline irrigation, and smell training intervention. Risks and benefits will be discussed with volunteers as part of the informed consent process. Compensation is not provided.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Participants must be 18 to 65 years old 2. Participants must have anosmia or hyposmia
