FDA, Nonprofits to Examine Digital Endpoints in Upcoming Workshop

The FDA, Foundation for the National Institutes of Health and the Biomarkers Consortium will take a comprehensive look at digital endpoints in clinical research this month through a two-day multistakeholder workshop.
The joint in-person event will be held June 24-25 at the Bethesda Marriott in Bethesda, Md., where industry experts, regulators, researchers and patient groups will discuss at length how to successfully integrate digital endpoints into trials and medical product development programs.
The workshop will feature discussion sessions, a number of case studies, FDA experiences and perspectives, networking opportunities and more.
The goals of the meeting are to:
- Identify challenges surrounding digital endpoints
- Discuss the best ways to evaluate and select digital endpoints that are fit-for-purpose
- Look at already-validated and FDA-approved digital endpoint applications
- Share best practices and reach agreement on recommendations for digital endpoint use and validation
