NEJM Launches New Journal to Fill Evidentiary Gaps for Clinical Decisions
The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) has launched a new, monthly online journal to highlight innovative clinical trials and to help readers develop greater knowledge of the statistical methods used in trials.
NEJM Evidence includes two regular features: Stats, STAT!, which gives brief video lessons on statistical methods, and Tomorrow’s Trial, which presents accepted practices lacking evidence and calls on clinicians to suggest clinical trials to fill the gaps.
It also features Trial by Fire, a podcast with five-minute discussions between people associated with published trials and critics of those trials, and Patient Platform, which gives patients a medium for sharing their experiences as research participants.
The new journal is edited by clinicians and covers the gamut of research, from early-stage findings through to confirmatory trials across all medical specialties. Its first issue will be accessible free of charge for a limited time, NEJM says.
