Global Genes and Rare Disease Diversity Group Team Up to Make Research More Inclusive
October 18, 2021
The Rare Disease Diversity Coalition and Global Genes have formed a partnership to bring more minority patients and underserved populations into clinical research on rare diseases.
Craig Martin, CEO of Global Genes, a rare and genetic disease advocacy group, said that the two groups will collaborate on the RARE Data and Evidence Inclusiveness Initiative, which will gather data to better understand the experiences, challenges and outcomes of rare disease patients in communities of color.
They will also present at the RARE Health Equity Summit in November and launch an 18-month educational program to encourage patients of color to learn their family health history.
