A collaboration between data management companies Ciox Health and HealthVerity will bring together millions of patient records and apply artificial intelligence (AI) analysis to generate new data insights for trials.

The effort will focus on finding trends in adverse reactions and other indicators of problems that need to be addressed in current and future trials. The approach already is accelerating data generation and analysis in an FDA-mandated COVID-19 vaccine trial, the companies said.

The companies will use Ciox’s natural language processing system to search records from HealthVerity’s 330 million patients and Ciox’s network of more than 17,000 hospitals and clinics, allowing researchers to glean previously unavailable or difficult-to-reach information from trial data.
