Acurian Beefs Up Data Modeling Capabilities for Patient Recruitment
August 14, 2008
Patient recruitment provider Acurian is increasing its data modeling capabilities, a move that chief information officer and vice president of operations Roger Smith says benefits not just Acurian but the entire industry.
“Too many sponsors are forced to rely on anecdotal or no data--before, during and after a patient recruitment campaign,” explained Smith in a company release. “So while we’ve made significant investments in analytical data expertise and technologies to help us run the only performance-based recruitment business in the industry, our customers are the true beneficiaries. Our data experts and tools help sponsors better understand the enrollment continuum from response to randomization so that there are no surprises in timelines or budget allocations.”
Acurian’s increased investments in data modeling personnel and technology will improve the sponsor’s ability to develop and analyze patient recruitment campaigns.
By looking at key variables such as protocol logistics, inclusion/exclusion criteria, screen fail rates, site performance, response rates, and referral rates, Acurian’s modeling services can graph the impact of a centralized recruitment campaign from one or more suppliers across a given timeframe, Smith said. The model provides sponsors with real-time projections throughout the enrollment process.
“We are putting an end to the days where a sponsor’s patient recruitment allocations go into a black hole and accountability is subservient to activity,” Smith said in the release.
