MAP Pharmaceuticals has named Scott R. Ward chairman of its Board of Directors. Current Chairman Steven A. Elms will step down from the board after more than six years of service.

Most recently, Ward was senior vice president and president of the cardiovascular business of Medtronic. Previously, he was senior vice president and president of Medtronic Neurological and Diabetes, and vice president and general manager of the Medtronic Drug Delivery Business. Ward has served as a director of MAP Pharmaceuticals since 2008.
