Alan Aderem named director of Seattle BioMed

Alan Aderem, an immunologist who co-founded the Institute for Systems Biology, is leaving the Seattle research center to become director of the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute.
Aderem is joining Seattle BioMed as director and taking more than 40 people from the Institute for Systems Biology with him to conduct research into new vaccines and drugs for global health. Aderem will become president of Seattle BioMed in January 2012, replacing founder and president Ken Stuart. Stuart will remain on the Seattle BioMed faculty and on the board of trustees.
