Leukemia charity invests $3.7 million for trial network

Leukemia & Lymphoma Research, a U.K. charity, is investing $3.7 million in a national network of clinical trial centers to improve chances of survival for people suffering from leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
The network will centered at University of Birmingham and connect 13 hospitals in Southampton, London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Belfast Glasgow, Liverpool, Cardiff, Oxford and Nottingham.
The charity is working with pharmaceutical companies and the National Health Service hospitals to bring up to $80 million of new drugs to patients through the network over the next two years.
The trials will create as many as 500 jobs are expected to begin by the end of 2011.
