Amarillo Biosciences, a U.S. biotechnology firm, has appointed Dr. Stephen T. Chen CEO and chairman of the board.

Chen has been a director of Amarillo since 1996 and has 30 years of international business experience, including an extensive background in pharmaceutical product acquisition and licensing, development of joint venture agreements, execution of business strategy and leadership of start-up companies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and nutraceutical industries.

Chen has held executive positions in R&D and business development at several major pharmaceutical companies, including Burroughs Wellcome (now GlaxoSmithKline), Miles Pharmaceuticals (now Bayer), ICI America (now AstraZeneca), and Ciba-Geigy (now Novartis).
