Ashfield, part of United Drug, has named Dr. Michael Burman vice president of its Ivyland, Pa-based Medical Call Center. Ashfield Medical Information, formerly Alliance Healthcare, is a provider of medical information and pharmacovigilance call center services to healthcare, biotech and device companies.

Burman will be responsible for U.S. operations and accountable for new healthcare strategies. Due to the acquisition of Drug Safety Alliance in 2012, Burman will bridge together two services into a single offering for clients. Burman also will partner with team members in other countries to build a global medical call center service.

Burman joins Ashfield with over a decade of pharmaceutical industry experience, including experience in medical information call centers. His career includes work at Merck, Wyeth, AstraZeneca and most recently Bristol-Myers Squibb. He created and launched a virtual scientific exchange center and was involved in the vision, strategy and implementation of the first global medical contact center in the industry.
