Chesapeake IRB acquires Goodwyn IRB
March 27, 2014
Chesapeake IRB has completed the acquisition of Goodwyn IRB.
Cincinnati-based Goodwyn IRB and Chesapeake IRB, headquartered in Columbia, Md., are providers of federally mandated institutional review board (IRB) services to pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies, universities, academic medical centers, hospital systems, governmental entities and others required to use IRB services to assure the protection of rights and the welfare of human participants in research.
“We are excited to acquire Goodwyn IRB," said Felix Gyi, founder and CEO of Chesapeake IRB. "Their operational expertise and commitment to human protection mirrors our own and will be an asset as we continue to build Chesapeake’s market presence as a leading independent IRB.”
Ellen Kelso, founder and CEO of Goodwyn IRB, said “Goodwyn IRB is very pleased to be owned by Chesapeake IRB. We will share best practices across the firms while continuing to offer exceptional institutional review board services and human protection to our clients. They will now be able to utilize Chesapeake’s Center for IRB Intelligence (CIRBI) and have real-time, 24/7 access to all study documents.”
Elyse Summers, president and CEO of the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, said, “AAHRPP is delighted that two AAHRPP accredited, highly respected, independent IRBs have found the common ground of accreditation as a leverage point to create an enhanced organization.”
