CISCRP Medical Heroes Appreciation event returns to DIA to celebrate clinical trial volunteers
The Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP), an independent nonprofit organization, has announced the upcoming Medical Heroes Appreciation Walk in Washington D.C. to honor the volunteers who give the gift of participation in clinical research and to raise awareness about the importance of clinical research in advancing public health.
CISCRP will hold the Medical Heroes Appreciation Walk in conjunction with the 51st DIA Annual Meeting. The event will take place on Monday, June 15, from 6:30-8:15 a.m. The start/finish location is at Mt. Vernon Square, directly across from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Participants are encouraged to register early as space is limited.
To register, visit ciscrp.org/medherowalk-DC. On behalf of every Walk registrant, the Greater Gift Initiative also will donate one vaccine to one child in need.
"Through their participation in clinical trials each year, millions of people are medical heroes helping to advance public health and knowledge about disease and new treatments," said Ken Getz, CISCRP's founder and board chair. "We are excited to be holding the Medical Heroes Appreciation Walk at the DIA Annual Meeting again this year to raise public awareness and to honor each study volunteer's gift of participation."
Running and walking enthusiasts and CISCRP supporters are invited to participate and attend the event. Proceeds from the Walk will support education and outreach programs to patients and families interested in learning more about the clinical research process. This event is made possible by sponsors including Biogen, EMD Serono, ICON Firecrest, and Roche.
