VA’s year in review shows firm ground gained for partnership expansions
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced two new partnerships that will expand cancer research at veterans hospitals and integrate data from the VA’s massive patient database into an artificial intelligence platform that can advance the use of precision medicine in clinical and research settings. The VA, which has historically relied on direct Congressional appropriations to fund its research, has taken steps in recent years to form partnerships with private companies and nonprofit organizations to give veterans broader access to innovative research and advance the development of therapies that target diseases relevant to the population.
CRF Health expands in Romania
CRF Health, manufacturer of TrialMax, a patient-oriented data collection software program designed to help with the management of clinical trials, has announced an expansion into Iaşi, Romania. The life sciences, technology and clinical trial industries in Romania are growing, and Iaşi is a hub for companies from around the world.
