St. Jude cybersecurity vulnerabilities spark medical device hacking debate

A recent cybersecurity scandal involv­ing St. Jude’s Merlin@home device sparked a renewed discussion within the medical device industry about the best way to address security flaws discovered by independent security experts, sometimes called “white hat” hackers. As medical devices become increasingly vulnerable to cyber attack, the in­dustry has broadly accepted its new responsibil­ity of continuously protecting approved devices from potential security breaches.

Clinerion enters an improved clinical trials market in Brazil

To strengthen its presence in this new market, Clinerion has forged a partnership with the iHealth Group of Brazil, which operates 40 hospitals, with a total patient population of 25 million. The iHealth Group’s role is to make consistent quality electronic health records (EHRs) data available, signifi­cantly broadening the number of patients who could potentially participate in trials.
