Insys Therapeutics founder arrested on charges of racketeering
On the very same day President Donald Trump declared the opioid crisis to be a nationwide public health emergency, Insys Therapeutics founder and majority owner John Kapoor was arrested. He was charged with leading a nationwide conspiracy to profit by using bribes and fraud to cause the illegal distribution of his company’s Fentanyl spray, Subsys, intended for cancer patients experiencing breakthrough pain.
GLOBE platform attempts worldwide standardization of clinical trial benchmarking
ICON, a global provider of drug development solutions and services, announced that it has enabled the development of GLOBE, a global patient outcome benchmarking platform in support of clinical trial development. The company announced the news at the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) annual conference in Washington D.C. last week. It first announced the initiative with ICHOM in March of 2016.
