Trial Information

Summary: Androgen Deprivation and Localized Radiotherapy to Metastases in Patients with Oligometastatic Hormone - Sensitive Prostate Cancer

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have prostate cancer that metastasized (spread beyond the prostate) to just a few areas (oligometastatic).  The purpose of this study is to look at the effects of treating prostate cancer with androgen deprivation (depriving the tumor cell of a necessary growth substance—androgen, specifically testosterone) and localized radiotherapy in terms of shrinking your tumor and delaying the progression (growth) of the cancer. This study will also test the use of a new type of radiation therapy called helical tomotherapy as part of the treatment. Total duration of androgen deprivation will be 36 weeks.  Radiation will be given daily for 2-6 weeks.  When your treatment is complete, you will be followed until your prostate cancer begins to grow.
