Trial Information
Summary: A Phase I/II Study of Nelfinavir in Liposarcoma
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have liposarcoma (cancer of fat cells) which has recurred (come back after initial treatment), is metastatic (has spread to other parts of the body), or is surgically unresectable (cannot be removed by surgery). The purpose of this study is to find the maximum tolerated dose (MTD, highest dose that can be given without unmanageable side effects) of the drug nelfinavir; to measure Nelfinavir levels in the blood at each dose; to evaluate tumor response (whether the tumor shrinks, stays the same, or continues to grow) at the MTD; and to evaluate any changes nelfinavir may produce in protein levels in tumor and in normal fat tissue. Your participation in this study is expected to last for as long as your tumor is responding and you are not experiencing any unmanageable side effects. If your tumor becomes worse, your treatment with nelfinavir will be stopped. After your treatment on this study is over, your medical condition will continue to be followed indefinitely.
