Trial Information

Summary: Erectile Dysfunction Recovery in Men age

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and will be undergoing a Bilateral Nerve Sparing Robotic Assisted Prostatectomy (BNS-RAP). You are at high risk for erectile dysfunction (difficulty getting and/or maintaining an erection) following a BNS-RAP.  The purpose of this study is to determine the rate of return of ability to have and maintain an erection for intercourse in subjects following this treatment versus standard of care, 1 year after surgery.  We anticipate the information from this study will determine if there is a difference in recovery of erectile function from robotic assisted prostatectomy versus standard laparoscopic prostatectomy and if early drug therapy improves erectile function following BNS-RAP.  To learn what impact, if any, this study has had, a sexual function questionnaire is included.  Your participation in this study is expected to last 18 months.  While you are on study, your medical condition will continue to be followed under the normal standard of care for patients who undergo prostate cancer surgery.
