Trial Information
Summary: Adults with Head & Neck Cancer Sought for a Clinical Trial (H&N II)
The UVA Health System Cancer Center seeks adults with cancer of the head and neck for a research study. Participants in the study will have recurrent or metastatic cancer: that is, the cancer responded to treatment and then recurred or has become metastatic.
The purpose of this study is to find out what effects the investigational drug GW572016 has on participants' carcinoma of the head and neck.
All participants will take 6 pills of GW572016 once daily either before or after meals.
Study procedures before and during the study at regular intervals include physical exams, heart function tests, CT scans, biopsies, MRI scans, and blood tests. Participants will remain on the study as long as their response is favorable. After treatment, participants will be followed by the study team for one year.
The participant's insurance company will be billed for the costs of the procedures, hospitalization, physician charges, and tests. At this time, the study medication will be provided free of charge. There is a remote possibility that this may change. The study doctor will discuss this with you should this situation arise. There will be no financial compensation for participating in this study.
